A daily newspaper owned by the NGD Foundation through its media department, that mainly publishes online in Kirundi, Swahili, English, and French languages and planning to publish in-print in the near future so as to expand the audience.
Journal Magara Times: - On August 08, 2014, the newspaper was launched as an online medium dedicated to bringing trustworthy news to the public. - In May 2015, due to political unrest in Burundi at the moment, the newspaper stopped publishing daily news until March 2018 when news publications resumed. - On June 19, 2018, the newspaper "Journal Magara Times" was registered by API "Agence pour la Promotion de l'Investissement" upon approval of its company by-laws. - On June 20, 2018, the newspaper "Journal Magara Times" was issued a Fiscal Registration Certificate "NIF" by the Burundian Tax Agence known as OBR "Office Burundais de Recettes". - On June 20, 2018, the newspaper "Journal Magara Times" was issued a Business Licence known as "Registre de Commerce" by the Tribunal of Commerce in Bujumbura, Burundi. |
The Journal Magara Times is governed by the board of directors that report to the general assembly of the NGD Foundation, the supreme organ of the mother organisation. The Managing Director, who is answerable to the Board of Directors, oversees the day-to-day implementation of the newspaper's programs.
The newspaper also provides opportunities for local youth to get hands-on training in Journalism for free. The new skills will help in reducing unemployment and equipping the youth with skills that enable them to be more employable.
