Current Projects
These are community-based projects and programs currently available for funding and for 13 locations where the NGD Foundation serves in Burundi.
The projects and programs are divided into three groups, as per NGD Departments ($38,811 USD for NGD Star Sports, $52,700 USD for NGD Media, $98,671 USD for NGD Humanitarian), totalling altogether a budget of $190,182 USD per year.
The NGD Foundation is a non-profit making NGO that runs community-focused projects and programs currently in 3 provinces of Burundi. Most of our projects are designed in a way to become auto-funding programs (at least at a 70% at financial sufficiency) at the end of a duration of donation, grant or financial support so that beneficiary local communities may continue to benefit from projects' activities.
1. Stop Poverty and Hunger Campaign (Food Program): This is a project for young unwed mothers, in particular and other rural women in general, to learn how to sew, earn reliable skills, boost their financial independence, and support families as they generate income through tailoring: 1- Project Title: Empowering Women Through Sewing Vocation Training and Business Mentorship. 2- Short name: Empower Women Through Sewing. 3- Funds To Start the Project: $ 9,826 USD. 4- Direct Beneficiaries: 60 Women per year. 5- Indirect Beneficiaries: 300 persons. 6- Location: Magara, Bugarama, Rumonge Province. 2. Hairstylist Apprenticeship (Peace Program): This is a Youth Empowerment Project through which apprentices are prepared to be successful in this competitive hair-styling industry by provision of theoretical instruction and practical hands-on experience in techniques such as cutting, styling, colouring physiology, hygiene and salon management. 1- Project Name: Hairstylist Apprenticeship Program. 2- Short Name: Hair-Cut Saloons for Football Clubs. 3- Budget: $ 32,500 USD for 13 Saloons. 4- Direct Beneficiaries: 2,500+ persons. 5- Indirect Beneficiaries: 3,000+ families. 6- Locations: 13 towns/villages in 3 provinces. 3. Community Library Project (Education Program): This is a project for Young Students to Find a Place to Read, Review lessons, Learn from others and earn new skills:1- Project: Library of Magara 2- Proposed Library Annual Budget: $ 16,995 USD. 3- Annual Direct Beneficiaries: 2,500+ Students 4- Indirect Beneficiaries: 120,000+ Persons. 5- Location: Magara, Bugarama, Rumonge Province. 4. Live Healthy Live Well Project (Health Program): The project "Live Healthy Live Well" is a free medical insurance coverage that was designed for elders and youths in particular and NGD Sports Department's Academies participating youth girls and boys in general so as to provide to them with medical care access and hence contribute in building healthy and prosperous communities.1- Project: Live Healthy Live Well. 2- Executed by: NGD Humanitarian Works Dept. 3- Annual Budget: $ 5,400 USD. 4- Annual Beneficiaries: 3,000+ persons. 5- Cost per Annual Coverage: $ 1.8 USD 6- Locations: 13 towns/villages in 3 provinces. 5. School Supplies Donation (Education Program): This is an annual basis project to provide school supplies to more students in 13 locations where the Foundation operates. It's done in order to support parents from identified lower-income families and encourage their children to get education and prepare a better future1- Project: School Supplies Donation 2- Proposed Annual Budget: $ 13,500 USD. 3- Annual Direct Beneficiaries: 3,000+ Students 4- Supply Package Value: $ 4.5 USD per student. 5- Location: 13 towns/villages in 3 provinces. 6. Sports for Love and Peace (Football Cup): This is a Football Cup is an annual project for a place of hope, love, and peace for young girls and boys for them to get together, play together, share experiences, earn new social skills, love one another, train in football, and hopefully prepare for a professional career in football. 1- Project Title: NGD Foundation’s Football Cup. 2- Short name: NGD Football Cup. 3- Executed by: Star Football Academy. 4- Annual Budget: $25,000 USD. 5- Annual Beneficiaries: 3,000+ young girls and boys. 6- Age groups: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19. 7- Locations: City of Bujumbura, Rumonge Province, and Makamba Province. | 7. Sports for Love and Peace (Basketball Cup): This is a Basketball Cup is an annual project for a place of hope, love, and peace for young girls and boys for them to get together, play together, share experiences, earn new social skills, love one another, train in basketball, and hopefully prepare for a professional career in basketball. 1- Project Title: NGD Foundation’s Basketball Cup. 2- Short name: NGD Basketball Cup. 3- Executed by: Star Basketball Academy. 4- Annual Budget: $ 9,311 USD. 5- Annual Beneficiaries: 450+ young citizens. 6- Players age groups: U13, U15, U17, U19 and U21. 7- Locations: Magara, Minago, and Gitaza in Province of Rumonge. 8. Sports for Love and Peace (Tour de Magara): This is a Cycling Tournament is an annual project for a place of hope, love, and peace for young girls and boys for them to get together, cycle together, share experiences, earn new social skills, love one another, train in cycling athletics, and hopefully prepare for a professional career in Cycling Athletics. 1- Project Title: NGD Foundation’s Tour de Magara. 2- Short name: Tour de Magara. 3- Executed by: Star Athletics Academy. 4- Annual Budget: $ 2,400 USD (for 3 Tours per year). 5- Annual Beneficiaries: 450+ young citizens. 6- Cyclists age groups: U13, U15, U17, U19 and U21. 7- Locations: Magara, Minago, and Gitaza in Province of Rumonge. 9. Sports for Love and Peace (Magara Cross-Country): This is a Running Cross-Country is an annual project for a place of hope, love, and peace for young girls and boys for them to get together, play together, share experiences, earn new social skills, love one another, train in running athletics, and hopefully prepare for a professional career in Running Athletics. 1- Project: NGD Foundation’s Magara Cross-Country. 2- Short name: Magara Cross-Country. 3- Executed by: Star Athletics Academy. 4- Annual Budget: $ 2,100 USD (for 3 Runs per year). 5- Annual Beneficiaries: 450+ young citizens. 6- Runners age groups: U13, U15, U17, U19 and U21. 7- Locations: Magara, Minago, and Muhuta in Province of Rumonge. 10. Clean Clothing Initiative (Health Program): This is a project for donating clean clothes, done once in a year and given to young girls and boys from low-income families so as to make them feel cared for as much as other kids are:1- Project: Clean Clothing Initiative. 2- Proposed Annual Budget: $ 6,650 USD. 3- Annual Beneficiaries: 3,000+ Kids. 4- Locations: Mairie de Bujumbura, Rumonge, and Makamba Provinces. 11. Education Scholarships Fund (Education Program): This is a project for tuition payments support designed for students from low-income families in Burundi so as to provide them opportunities to get education like others:1- Project: Education Scholarships Fund. 2- Proposed Annual Budget: $ 6,000 USD. 3- Annual Beneficiaries: 20+ Students per year. 4- Locations: Mairie de Bujumbura, Rumonge, and Makamba Provinces. 12. Media for Peace Campaigns (Media Program): This is a project to promote peace, gender equality, environment protection awareness, to ignite passion and love, and develop both technical and personal skills for youths, building a foundation for youths development in day-to-day life challenges:1- Project: Media for Youth, Peace, Equality and Environment Campaigns. 2- Proposed Annual Budget: $ 52,700 USD. 3- Annual Beneficiaries: Citizens of Burundi. 4- Locations: Nationwide and Diaspora. |
